Section 3 Summary
The Central
Nervous System (CNS) receives and interprets nerve impulses from all parts of
the body.
Nerve
impulses for voluntary movements go from the brain to the muscles. These
movements aren’t automatic. We decide to make them.
Sensory
nerves transmit the information to the central nervous system.
Motor
nerves transmit the nerve impulses from the brain to the muscles.
Involuntary
movements go from the spinal
cord to the muscles. Some examples are shivering when you are cold, yawning
when you are tired, hearing, blinking when something is very close to your eyes
and dying. Sneezing is also involuntary.
